How much does an international move from Colombia cost?

There is no fixed rate per country: two families moving to Spain can pay very different amounts. What does exist is a short list of factors that explain nearly the whole price, and knowing them helps you compare quotes and decide what to bring.

In short

The price of an international move from Colombia depends mainly on volume in cubic meters, the shipping mode (full container, groupage or air), distance and route, services at origin and destination, and any taxes charged by the destination country. That is why moves are quoted after an inventory survey, not from a generic rate.

The five factors behind the price

  • Volume: the basis of the quote, measured in cubic meters during the survey, at home or by video call.
  • Mode: a full container has a fixed cost per unit; groupage is charged per cubic meter; air is charged by weight or volume, whichever is greater.
  • Route: a destination with direct service costs less than one requiring transshipment, and the distance from the arrival port to your new home adds up too.
  • Services: export packing, custom wooden crates, furniture disassembly and reassembly, storage or insurance.
  • Destination: each country charges differently for port handling and delivery, and some tax household goods when no relief applies.

Why a “per country” rate is a bad idea

A flat figure given without seeing your inventory usually ends in extra charges: more cubic meters than estimated, stairs with no elevator, poor truck access or port storage. A serious quote spells out what it covers at origin, in transit and at destination.

When comparing offers, make sure they cover the same scope: door to door or port only, customs on both ends and insurance on what value.

How to lower the cost without risking your goods

  • Declutter before the survey: what you sell or give away no longer takes up space.
  • Compare full container and groupage: for a small apartment, sharing a container is often cheaper.
  • Stay flexible on the sailing date so we can book the most convenient departure.
  • Check the destination’s relief rules: arriving with your paperwork in order avoids taxes you could have saved.

FAQ

Do you charge by weight or by volume?

Sea freight is quoted per cubic meter or per container; air freight by weight or volume, whichever is greater.

Is the inventory survey free?

Yes. We do it at your home or by video call to quote your real volume.

Is insurance included in the price?

It is quoted separately, on the value of the list you declare; we recommend it for any international move.
